I’d say this is hard to believe, but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to our abuse 🤷🏾♂️. After slavery was abolished with the Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln also approved a measure to pay the slave owners 300$ per slave due to “loss of property”.
I should also mention this was 300 PER enslaved person. If you have 10, you got 3,000, if you had 100, you got 30,000! In 2020 that would be 7,657$ PER PERSON.

I used to wonder how reparations can be paid on a meaningful scale to the descendants of those enslaved. I couldn’t really come to a consensus on one method, I resented cash payments a little under the premise of many of my people wouldn’t be sure on how to use or leverage it.
Honestly though, after reading this I think cash or land may just have to be the way to go 🤷🏾♂️
