The Tragedies of Ages 6-14
Fireworks, laughs and music was not all that was heard this 4th of July weekend as gunshots also rang in the air. At least 6 children died this holiday weekend, ages 6-14. A holiday celebrated so widely in the U.S for the “Freedom” that was won, so that we had a right to choose how to live our lives. But this last weekend at least 6 children lost that right this weekend. 6 CHILDREN shot down whether from cross fire or intentional. Its horrific.
Royta De’Marco Giles, age 8 from Alabama.
He was caught in the crosshairs of guns fired in Riverchase Galleria mall on Friday, July 3rd. Royta had just finished second grade and was said to be a smart child who aspired to be in the music industry. Now whatever songs he had are now silenced because a group of men decided they should have a gunfight. One arrest has been made but police are still looking for more of the men.
Secoriea Turner, age 8 from Georgia
She was shot when gunshots were fired from another car that was trying to pull into a parking lot on July 4th, Saturday night. Someone placed illegal barricades and it provoked someone so much they shot. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has a $10,000 reward out for information that could help find the people responsible for this as there is supposedly at least two shooters. She also stated, “We’re fighting the enemy within when we are shooting each other up in our streets.” A very real statement that unfortunately the black community as every other ethical group faces.
Davon McNeal, age 11 from Washington DC
He was shot down when 5 men, FIVE MEN, opened fire at 9:30 pm Saturday, July 4th. Davon’s grandfather said he was running inside his aunt’s home to grab a charger when everything happened. Davon’s mom saw his fall to the ground which she at first believed to be him ducking from the bullets. Unfortunately, blood began to be seen and no movement told her the truth of what happened. Hed been shot in the head. Mayor Muriel Bowser is offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest, stating, “The public’s help is dire in bringing to justice the perpetrators of the horrendous killing of 11 year old Davon McNeal.”
Natalia Wallace, age 7 from Chicago
He was shot in the head while she was playing outside in the yard with friends when three suspects got out of a car and opened fire on children. Natalia died in Stroger hospital. Chief Fred Waller spoke to reporters saying, “Chicago. Austin. You got to be tired of this. Chicago’s heart gets broken. Austin’s heart gets broken. You got to be tired of this, because d*** it, I’m tired of this.” To my dismay, this wasn’t the only child death in Chicago this holiday weekend. A 14 year old and three others were killed in a shooting on July 4th.
A 6 year old boy from San Francisco
He was found suffering from a gunshot wound Saturday, July 4th. Police received a call for a shooting that happened about 10:44pm. The boy died and a second victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. No suspect descriptions and no arrests have been made on this case. Chief of police, William Scott said, “…the San Francisco Police Department stands with the Bayview Hunter’s Point community in it’s determination to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice.”

That’s not all
Over the weekend more violence and not just on children, New York had at least, 44 shooting incidents with at least 63 victims. 75 people were shot this weekend in Chicago. 13 of those 75 were fatal wounds. These Chicago stats are only from Saturday forward. 75 victims in two days. I agree with Chief Fred Waller, I’m tired of this and it’s just too much violence.

This is something that must STOP!! Society is already against people of color we should stop doing this to ourselves. Where r all these guns coming from!! Or where are all the people on right preaching mental health issues as the problem like they do when white people decide to shoot up schools 🤷🏾♂️
